Alytech Launches ZEPHYR II: The Next Generation Smart Gas Diluter from GasMix™

ZEPHYR II is the first ZEPHYR to run AlySoft, the unified software platform behind every GasMix™ product, on an internal PC inside the instrument. The new gas diluter delivers unlimited stored sequences, live mixture generation on demand, real time uncertainty calculation, and a fully exportable audit trail. It is ISO 6145-7 compliant, delivers ±1% of setpoint flow accuracy*, and produces accurate gas mixtures from percent down to parts per billion (ppb).

Why the ZEPHYR II smart gas diluter matters
AlySoft has powered the GasMix™ range for years. It is the software platform behind the AIOLOS III multichannel gas mixer, Nomad, Hurricane, and the rest of the family. ZEPHYR II is the launch that brings AlySoft to the most compact gas diluter in the catalogue.
That single change has consequences across the whole instrument. The original ZEPHYR was firmware bound: ZeSoft, a closed dedicated firmware, with all the limits firmware brings. Ten stored sequences. A limited gas library. No live setpoint changes during a run. No exportable audit trail. No continuous quality follow-up. ZEPHYR II is software native from the ground up. Every limit removed by AlySoft, every capability AlySoft has gained over the years, every workflow it has standardised across the GasMix™ range now lives inside the ZEPHYR II gas diluter as well.

The dilution physics is unchanged. The same ±1% accuracy, less than 0.1% repeatability*, 1:2000 dilution ratio (extendable to 1:10,000), and ISO 6145-7 compliance that ZEPHYR has been trusted for since the original launch. What changes is everything around the dilution: the software, the documentation, the workflow.
Four breakthroughs that define the ZEPHYR II gas diluter
Each of the changes above sounds incremental on its own. Together, they redefine what a compact gas diluter can do.
1. ZEPHYR joins the AlySoft ecosystem
This is the single biggest change. AlySoft is the software platform Alytech designed to make every GasMix™ instrument behave like part of one larger system: shared methods, shared sequences, shared audit trails, shared learning curve. ZEPHYR was the only GasMix™ gas diluter that sat outside this ecosystem. With ZEPHYR II, that is no longer the case. Operators who already work with an AIOLOS III, a Hurricane, or any other GasMix™ instrument open ZEPHYR II for the first time and find a familiar interface.

2. Live mixture generation, on demand
ZEPHYR II introduces Immediate mode alongside the classic Sequences mode. Operators can adjust flow rates or target concentrations live, during a run, without stopping or restarting the sequence. On a firmware bound diluter, the only way to change a setpoint mid experiment was to stop, edit, and start again. ZEPHYR II removes that constraint entirely. This is exactly the mode you need for spike recovery experiments, exploratory linearity work, or any setup where the next setpoint depends on what the analyser just reported.
3. Unlimited sequences, gases, and methods
The original ZEPHYR stored up to ten sequences. ZEPHYR II removes that ceiling completely. Store as many sequences, gas definitions, and methods as your laboratory needs. Configure complex multipoint calibration programmes directly on the instrument, recall them with a tap, and run them unattended in synchronisation with your analyser. For accredited laboratories maintaining method libraries across several analysers and several analytes, this single change saves hours of operator time every week.
4. Live uncertainty and exportable audit trail
ZEPHYR II is built for regulated and quality driven environments: ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, pharmaceutical QC, refinery process laboratories. Uncertainty is calculated live, in real time, propagating the cylinder’s certified uncertainty and the actual flow conditions into the final result. The full run is captured in an exportable audit trail. Data exports to USB with one click. And because ZEPHYR II runs AlySoft, future updates are delivered as seamless software upgrades over the lifetime of the instrument, not firmware reflashes.
Where the ZEPHYR II gas diluter fits in the laboratory
ZEPHYR II is designed for any workflow where a stable, traceable, multipoint gas mixture is the rate limiting step. Typical applications include:
• Linearity verification and calibration of gas chromatographs equipped with FID, TCD, PID, PHD, SCD, MS, and other detectors
