Une quantification fiable d\u00e9pend de standards d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage charg\u00e9s sur le tube en phase gazeuse, dans le m\u00eame \u00e9tat physique que l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon de terrain. Les syst\u00e8mes de dilution dynamique GasMix et LiqMix g\u00e9n\u00e8rent \u00e0 la demande ces standards multipoints et adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 la matrice, du niveau du ng au \u00b5g. L&rsquo;approche a \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9e dans des travaux \u00e9valu\u00e9s par les pairs (University of Pretoria &#038; SASOL, MethodsX, 2025) \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de tubes Markes TD, avec un R\u00b2 atteignant 0,9955 et un accord de 99 % avec un mat\u00e9riau de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence certifi\u00e9.   <\/p><\/div><h2>Qu&rsquo;est-ce que la m\u00e9thode EPA TO-17 ?<\/h2><p>La m\u00e9thode EPA Compendium TO-17 est la m\u00e9thode de l&rsquo;EPA am\u00e9ricaine pour la d\u00e9termination des compos\u00e9s organiques volatils dans l&rsquo;air ambiant par \u00e9chantillonnage actif sur tubes adsorbants, suivi d&rsquo;une thermod\u00e9sorption et d&rsquo;une analyse GC\u2013MS. L&rsquo;air est pomp\u00e9 \u00e0 travers un tube garni d&rsquo;un ou plusieurs adsorbants ; les analytes sont retenus, puis thermod\u00e9sorb\u00e9s, refocalis\u00e9s sur un pi\u00e8ge froid et inject\u00e9s sur la colonne GC. <\/p><p>Compar\u00e9e \u00e0 la m\u00e9thode TO-15 bas\u00e9e sur canisters, la TO-17 est bien adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 une large plage de volatilit\u00e9, aux travaux \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9tat de traces (sub-ppb) et aux campagnes de terrain o\u00f9 les canisters sont peu pratiques. Sa justesse d\u00e9pend cependant enti\u00e8rement de la mani\u00e8re dont les standards d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage sont pr\u00e9par\u00e9s et introduits sur l&rsquo;adsorbant. <\/p><h2>Pourquoi la TO-17 exige des standards en phase gazeuse adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 la matrice<\/h2><p>Pour qu&rsquo;un \u00e9talonnage soit valide selon la TO-17, le standard doit atteindre l&rsquo;adsorbant de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire adsorb\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de la phase gazeuse, \u00e0 un d\u00e9bit repr\u00e9sentatif. Il existe deux fa\u00e7ons de charger des standards sur les tubes : <\/p><ul><li><strong>Dotation liquide<\/strong> (p. ex. un banc de chargement de solution d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage) : un standard liquide est inject\u00e9 sur le tube puis entra\u00een\u00e9 par le gaz vecteur. La TO-17 l&rsquo;autorise, mais exige un solvant de haute puret\u00e9, id\u00e9alement bien plus volatil que les analytes, afin de limiter les art\u00e9facts de solvant et la co-\u00e9lution. <\/li><li><strong>Chargement en phase gazeuse par dilution dynamique<\/strong> : un standard en phase gazeuse contr\u00f4l\u00e9 est pass\u00e9 \u00e0 travers le tube le long du trajet d&rsquo;\u00e9chantillonnage. Les analytes s&rsquo;adsorbent sur le lit exactement comme le ferait un \u00e9chantillon de terrain, ce qui donne un \u00e9talonnage r\u00e9ellement adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la matrice, exempt des effets du solvant d&rsquo;injection. <\/li><\/ul><p>La seconde voie est la plus rigoureuse, et c&rsquo;est exactement ce que proposent GasMix et LiqMix.<\/p><h2>Comment GasMix et LiqMix \u00e9talonnent les tubes adsorbants<\/h2><p>La plateforme GasMix produit des m\u00e9langes gazeux d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage personnalis\u00e9s par dilution dynamique pilot\u00e9e par logiciel, puis les fait passer \u00e0 travers le tube adsorbant \u00e0 un d\u00e9bit dos\u00e9 qui reproduit l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillonnage actif :<\/p><ul><li><strong>GasMix<\/strong> dilue \u00e0 partir de sources de gaz comprim\u00e9 (bouteilles, tubes \u00e0 perm\u00e9ation) au moyen de r\u00e9gulateurs de d\u00e9bit massique, construisant automatiquement une s\u00e9rie de concentrations multipoints.<\/li><li><strong>LiqMix<\/strong> g\u00e9n\u00e8re des standards en phase gazeuse directement \u00e0 partir de standards liquides : un r\u00e9gulateur de d\u00e9bit massique Coriolis dose le liquide dans un vaporisateur \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature r\u00e9gul\u00e9e, o\u00f9 il s&rsquo;\u00e9vapore dans un gaz vecteur et se m\u00e9lange \u00e0 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 quatre autres voies gazeuses. Cela est id\u00e9al pour les compos\u00e9s d\u00e9pourvus de standard en bouteille. <\/li><li><strong>Cascade<\/strong> (option \u00e0 deux \u00e9tages) encha\u00eene deux \u00e9tages de dilution pouvant atteindre 10\u2074 chacun, atteignant des concentrations de l&rsquo;ordre du ppb (nL\/L) pour les travaux TO-17 aux niveaux ambiants. Toutes les lignes sont chauff\u00e9es jusqu&rsquo;au point de livraison afin d&rsquo;\u00e9viter la recondensation des analytes plus lourds. <\/li><\/ul><p>Comme les m\u00e9langes sont g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s \u00e0 la demande, le laboratoire \u00e9vite le co\u00fbt, les d\u00e9lais et les risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la haute pression des standards en bouteille, et peut pr\u00e9parer des m\u00e9langes r\u00e9actifs ou instables qui ne peuvent pas \u00eatre stock\u00e9s.<\/p><h2>R\u00e9pondre aux exigences de contr\u00f4le qualit\u00e9 de la TO-17<\/h2><p>La TO-17 adopte le cadre d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage GC\u2013MS de la m\u00e9thode TO-15\/TO-15A et y ajoute des contr\u00f4les d&rsquo;\u00e9chantillonnage sp\u00e9cifiques aux adsorbants. (<em>MethodsX<\/em>, 2025), une cascade LiqMix a g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 des standards en phase gazeuse de BTEX (benz\u00e8ne, tolu\u00e8ne, \u00e9thylbenz\u00e8ne, o-xyl\u00e8ne) qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 charg\u00e9s sur des cartouches Radiello \u00e0 charbon graphitis\u00e9 (Carbograph 4) log\u00e9es dans des tubes de thermod\u00e9sorption Markes, d\u00e9sorb\u00e9s sur un pi\u00e8ge de focalisation Tenax et analys\u00e9s par GC\u2013MS. Une cartouche de secours identique a \u00e9t\u00e9 connect\u00e9e en s\u00e9rie pour surveiller le per\u00e7age, qui constitue le contr\u00f4le TO-17 en pratique. <\/p><p><strong>R\u00e9sultats cl\u00e9s :<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Lin\u00e9arit\u00e9 apr\u00e8s thermod\u00e9sorption :<\/strong> R\u00b2 = 0,9941 (benz\u00e8ne), 0,9899 (tolu\u00e8ne), 0,9917 (\u00e9thylbenz\u00e8ne) et 0,9955 (o-xyl\u00e8ne), sur des charges de l&rsquo;ordre du ng (p. ex. 10\u2013690 ng pour le benz\u00e8ne) repr\u00e9sentatives de l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillonnage ambiant.<\/li><li><strong>Pr\u00e9cision :<\/strong> RSD de 3,2\u20134,2 % sur les tubes charg\u00e9s, bien en de\u00e7\u00e0 de l&rsquo;exigence de pr\u00e9cision de \u2264 25 % RPD.<\/li><li><strong>Justesse :<\/strong> accord moyen de 99 % avec un mat\u00e9riau de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence certifi\u00e9 BTEX Restek, confirmant l&rsquo;\u00e9quivalence m\u00e9trologique avec un CRM en bouteille.<\/li><li><strong>Plage :<\/strong> la m\u00eame plateforme a \u00e9galement couvert des charges professionnelles de l&rsquo;ordre du \u00b5g via des tubes \u00e0 extraction par solvant (R\u00b2 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 0,9998), de sorte qu&rsquo;un seul syst\u00e8me couvre des concentrations allant de l&rsquo;ambiant au professionnel.<\/li><\/ul><p>Note pratique sur le mod\u00e8le d&rsquo;\u00e9talonnage : plusieurs valeurs de R\u00b2 en thermod\u00e9sorption (0,9899\u20130,9955) se situent juste en dessous du seuil de r\u00e9gression strict R\u00b2 \u2265 0,995 ; le mod\u00e8le Average-RRF, explicitement autoris\u00e9 par la TO-15A et utilis\u00e9 sous la TO-17, constitue donc la base appropri\u00e9e pour la conformit\u00e9, et les RSD mesur\u00e9s de 3\u20134 % respectent confortablement sa limite de \u2264 30 %.<\/p><p style=\"font-style: italic; color: #555; margin-top: 32px;\">R\u00e9f\u00e9rence : N.M.
